Summary: A recent Google Chrome update caused an error to occur in 32-bit versions of Chrome. If your agency/service is not using Chrome then you can disregard. If you are using a 64-bit version of Chrome then you can disregard.

However, many people are unaware of whether they are using 64 or 32-bit browsers. Quoting from ImageTrend's message below:

"To check if your Chrome browser may be affected, please open a new blank page in Google Chrome. Type in “chrome://help” or click on the three vertical dots in the browser toolbar, click “Help,” then “About.” If you are running a 64-bit browser, you will see this displayed next to your version number. For example: Version 56.0.2924.87 (64-bit). If you do not see “64-bit” next to your version number, you are running a 32-bit version of Chrome and your browser is affected."

"Within the past week, the Google Chrome browser received a software update from version 55 to 56, causing Elite Field to display an error while using the application. The error from the browser is: “Aw, Snap! Google Chrome ran out of memory while trying to display this web page.” This issue appears to only affect the 32-bit version of Google Chrome. Our team is currently investigating the changes Google made during this update and any possible resolutions we can deploy.

To check if your Chrome browser may be affected, please open a new blank page in Google Chrome. Type in “chrome://help” or click on the three vertical dots in the browser toolbar, click “Help,” then “About.” If you are running a 64-bit browser, you will see this displayed next to your version number. For example: Version 56.0.2924.87 (64-bit). If you do not see “64-bit” next to your version number, you are running a 32-bit version of Chrome and your browser is affected.

Please note that all incidents stored on Elite Field are local to the browser. If you install a new browser, or use a different browser, you will no longer see any un-posted incidents in your Dashboard. You will be able to view them in the original browser if needed or could attempt to recover from Elite Field Cloud.

At this time we are recommending the following actions, if possible, to use Elite Field:

  1. Update Google Chrome to the 64-bit version:
    a. To update to the 64-bit version of Chrome, navigate to this site and follow the installation instructions: https://www.google.com/chrome/browser/desktop/

           b. Note: Underneath the blue “Download Chrome” icon, it should specify “64-bit.” If navigating to this page indicates “32-bit,” then your machine is not compatible with the 64-bit installation and you will need to move to step 2.

       2. Utilize the Firefox browser if you are unable to update to the 64-bit version of Chrome.

       3. Utilize Internet Explorer 11 if you are unable to use Firefox.

We will continue to provide you updates as they are available. We appreciate your patience as we continue to investigate this issue.

Thank you,

The ImageTrend Team"
